iPad発表イベントの最後にジョブズが語った言葉が話題になっている。下記ムービーの1時間31分30秒頃からのわずか1分弱のこと。

・Apple Keynotes: Apple Announces iPad

最も注目されているのは最初に語られる下記の言葉。

「アップルがiPadのような製品を作ることの出来る理由は、常に我々がテクノロジーとリベラル・アーツの交差するところに立とうと考えているからだ」

水を打ったように静まりかえった会場の雰囲気。聴衆だけでなく自らにも語りかけているように見えるジョブズの姿。あたかも時が止まった世界に言葉だけが響くようなその光景に眼が潤む。

そのまま聴き進むと他のところも興味深い。そこで他力本願、誰かネットにアップしていないかと探してみたところ全文掲載は無く、また自分の耳に聞こえるものとは異なる記述もあったりではっきりしない。それならばと自ら起こしてみた（もちろん、これもはっきりしないものなので参考までに）。

“The reason Apple is able to create products like the iPad is because we’ve always tried to be at the intersection of technology and liberal arts.

To be able to get the best of both, to make extremely advanced products from a technology point of view that also have them be intuitive, easily use, fun to use, so that they really fit to the users, The users don’t have to come to them, they come to the users.

It’s the combination of these two things that I think has let us make the kind of creative product like the iPad.”
