Expo 2000

- visited on September 04, 2000 -

info about German PavilionI visited the last Expo in 20th century, Expo 2000 in Hannover, Germany. The reason I'd like to visit there was that I was interested in the Japan pavilion architected by Shigeru BAN and the theme music of this Expo composed by Kraftwerk, the God of Techno Pop.

But when I entered in the German pavilion, I experienced the big unexpected surprise.

Mr, Hans BeckI found a plaster figure of a certain person's head surrounded by some Playmobil figures. Of course, the name of this person is Mr. Hans Beck, the father of Playmobil. The theme of this German pavilion was the great people of Germany representing the 20th century. When I looked around other statues, I found Einstein, Beethoven, Joseph Beuys, etc. He was elected as one of these great people together with them.

I remember this expo ended in failure as business. But it was the first time for me to go through "Expo" and I saw the statues, so it was a very interesting and impressive event for me.

CD by KraftwerkStrange to say, I'd never heard the theme music by Kraftwerk in all the place. So I've been still thinking if the secretariat of this expo dealt in the special Playmobil like this jacket, it might have contributed to an increase of revenue.
