Christkindlesmarkt

- visited on December 16, 2001 -

I returned back here, Nürnberg. It took 6 hours by train from Prague.

The purpose of this visit was an experience of the Christkindlesmarkt which is known for the best Christmas market in Germany.

The main place of this market was the Hauptmarkt Square in front of the Frauenkirche, the center of this city.

There were many stalls with red and white striped roof which look like #5341 Produce Stand.

Each stall offered various products, traditional Christmas ornaments, marionettes, chocolates or some sweets and so on. In addition to them, Nürnberger sausages and Gluehwein were waiting for me. Absolutely fabulous!

Separate from the main place, there was an another venue for children.

Each stall had dolls indicate their dealing goods on the roof. And there are also some amusements, a merry-go-round and a Ferris wheel. It was the scene which made me pleasant only by looking.

Finally, I found the shop at the most secluded part of this square.

Yes, this was the Playmobil shop.

I guess this shop had a meaning as a contribution to this local city Nürnberg. Because I visited a few another cities after Nürnberg though, I never saw the same shops there.

Different from other stalls, this shop was a detached house with window displays. So children could play with Playmobil keeping off the cold.

When I stepped into the shop, many children were playing with Playmobil, but I'm an adult so that I went toward the selling corner. I found there were ordinary items in that place at a glance. But looked hard, I discovered a cup with the Fanpark logo.

No sooner had I found it, I bought it of course. Gluehwein with this cup was really delicious.

Needless to say, this Christmas Market holds every year and I'm sure the Playmobil shop also sets up in business.
